AOI and VISUAL CONTROL

A. AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
Purpose: Detects defects in PCB layers, such as open circuits, short circuits, missing traces, using automated imaging.

Process:
1. High-resolution cameras scan the PCB and compare it with the prepared design files from Gerber data.
2. Image processing algorithms identify deviations or errors.
3. Defective boards are flagged for repair or rejection.

Used in: Inner layer inspection (before and after atching) and outer layer inspection after etching.

B. Visual Control (manual inspection and machine assist control)
Purpose: Provides an extra layer of quality assurance by human inspection of the PCB.

Process:
1. Technicians examine the PCB under magnification.
2. Checks include surface defects, solder mask alignment, general rules quality, mechanical issues by automatic optical machine.
3. Used as a final check before shipping or assembly.

Both AOI and visual inspection ensure high-quality, defect-free PCBs for reliable electronic applications.
