RIGID - FLEX PCB

A Rigid-Flex PCB is a hybrid board that combines the benefits of both rigid PCBs and flexible PCBs. It has rigid sections (made from traditional PCB materials) for areas that require mechanical support, and flexible sections (made from flexible PCB materials like polyimide) for areas that need to bend or conform to specific shapes. This design allows for more complex and compact electronics with a combination of both rigid and flexible circuit areas in a single board.

Rigid-flex PCBs provide a high-performance, compact solution by combining the best attributes of both rigid and flexible circuits.

Layer Count, Trace Width and Spacing, Minimum Hole Size and Via Type:
Rigid-Flex PCB can be designed with typical rigid PCB parameters also with Blind and Buried vias.
Particolar constrain are only relative to the intersection zone (interconnection on the edge of the rigid and flex parts) where the min distance of the hokes must be of 1mm (better 2mm).

Applications:
Wearables: Flexible circuits are used in devices like smartwatches, fitness trackers, and health monitors.
Medical Devices: Rigid-Flex PCBs are used in implantable devices, catheters, and diagnostic equipment due to their conformability.
Consumer Electronics: Rigid-Flex PCBs are used in products like smartphones, foldable displays, and flexible displays.
Automotive: Used in automotive sensors, lighting systems, interconnects for advanced car electronics.and control units.
Aerospace & Military: Rigid-Flex PCBs are also used in aerospace applications for components like radar systems, satellite electronics, military devices and avionics.

Conclusion:
Rigid-flex PCBs are ideal for applications where flexibility, compactness, and durability are required, like in wearable devices, medical implants, foldable electronics, and other high-performance applications.
